Michelle Obama Makes Carpool Karaoke Debut

The coolest First Lady in history took the passenger seat in James Corden's Carpool Karaoke, showed off her dance moves to Beyonce, and was joined by a very special guest...

Soon-to-be former First Lady Michelle Obama appeared on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, with Mrs O throwing some shapes to Beyonce’s Single Ladies and Missy Elliott’s hit Get Ur Freak On - with the latter rapper joing the duo for a singalong too.

Obama is one of the most high profile names to have taken part in the singing, automobile-inspired skit for Corden’s Late Late Show, and, after announcing last month that she would appear on the show, has clearly been looking forward to following in the footsteps of stars like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Adele.

“I rarely get to listen to music in my car,” she says in the clip “I’ve been in a car a few months ago with my daughter who learned to drive. That’s the only time in seven and a half years that I’ve been in the passenger seat listening to music and rocking out like this.”

Obama and Missy Elliot recently joined forces for the charity single ‘This is For My Girls’, which was recorded with other artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland and Janelle Monae in support of Mrs Obama’s Let Girls Learn intiative, which aims to encourage the 62 million adolescent girls around the world who aren’t in education to attend school.

The footage is sure to boost Corden's Carpool Karaoke viewership on Youtube over the next few weeks, but will have to go some way to beating the amount of views amassed by Adele’s appearance in the skit, which currently stands at over 116,000,000.
