Baking fans were left stunned last year when their beloved BBC show was snapped up by channel 4. Crisis talks with presenters and judges followed, and all decided to quit except for Paul Hollywood, who ‘followed the dough’ and went with 4.
Many wondered if the show would work without cherished judge Mary Berry, and charming presenting duo Mel and Sue, and it appears we will soon find out as the first trailer for the new format was released.
The short film reveals very little, and replaces it’s new stars – joining Hollywood will be Prue Leith, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig – with a cast of all-singing and dancing breads, buns and cakes. Belting out a rousing rendition of Paul McCartney’s ‘We All Stand Together’, the yeasty goods put on an impressive display, reminiscent of the finest ‘Bake Off’ showstoppers.
While an air date for the reboot is not yet known - the clip ends with a teasing ‘coming soon’ – the new series looks set to raise the roof.
