Twiggy on botox, diets and how her daughter is her best friend

Twiggy catches up with Good Housekeeping in the September issue about why she hasn't had botox and her love of bread and crisps.

Twiggy was once the face that defined an era and almost 50 years on, she still looks as beautiful as ever and can proudly say she’s all natural.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping in the September issue, she says she hasn’t had any cosmetic procedures, but she would never say never.

“I haven’t [had work done] but that’s not to say I won’t,” she says. “The thing I’m against is the things they pump into your face and lips. People who have had it done can look like munchkins. It’s peculiar. I’m very anti-Botox as I feel it’s dangerous.”

Having been the world’s most famous model at one point, it’s no surprise that she still has an amazing figure and says that she just leads a healthy lifestyle to maintain it.

“I don’t think diets work, because you deprive yourself of the things you love,” she tells Good Housekeeping. “I’ve been fascinated recently by the fasting diet, though. My downfall is crisps and bread. If I eat bread every day for a week, I can feel it around my tummy. So if I stop for a week, I can really feel the difference.”

Twiggy is pretty settled, with a clothing range at Marks & Spencer, a happy marriage to actor Leigh Lawson and a 34-year-old daughter, Carly, from her previous marriage to late husband Michael Whitney.

“Carly is my best friend, especially now she’s a grown woman,” she says. “She really makes me laugh. She got married this summer and I’m so ready to be a grandmother!”

They even share a few of the same items in their wardrobe - well, if your mum was Twiggy…

“My daughter and I go shopping together. We’ll sometimes buy the same jeans or jacket, but we wear it differently.”
