I’m an adventurer who really likes to relax when I’m not doing crazy stuff on boats or giving motivational speeches, and a lot of the time I like to chill by doing yoga. The thing with yoga is it’s really just in the moment, but to read up on techniques, ideas and other elements of the body and mind is really interesting because yoga takes me to a really special place and I like that. So I will read magazines such as Yoga or Yoga Journal. These don’t really change the way I do yoga – although they do have great advice – but they open up the yoga world and invite more people in, which I think is really important, because it’s such an amazing thing for the mind.
I’m a huge fan of yoga and have been for a few years now. I think being supple and in touch with your body is something everyone should be. Although several levels of yoga should only be taught by a professional, the Yoga magazine I find really guides you in the right direction, certainly in terms of psychology, preparation, understanding what it is yoga achieves and offering advice in terms of what you can do in other aspects of your life that will help.
People have been asking me how I got in such good shape for Strictly, but I’ve been doing yoga for years and the helps you keep really trim and flexible. When you’re in a job that requires so much travelling you can’t always get to classes and I rely on Yoga magazine to give me that monthly boost.
