Lauren Conrad on her new boyfriend and negativity

Lauren Conrad chats to Marie Claire USA about her relationship with William Tell, negative attention and why she's over partying.

Lauren Conrad lived plenty of her life in front of TV cameras for MTV shows Laguna Beach and The Hills. She had a number of relationships played out on screen (remember Jason Wahler, Brody Jenner and Doug Reinhardt?) but nowadays she prefers to keep her private life a little more private and focuses on her fashion, lifestyle and writing ventures instead.

Catching up with Marie Claire USA, Conrad talks about her relationship with William Tell who she has been dating since February 2012. “He is very good for me because we have a lot in common as far as where we grew up,” she says. “It’s the first time I’m with someone and I’m not explaining things. He also has experience in the entertainment industry, so he understands a lot of things that people don’t always get.”

Having spent so much time in the limelight, especially at such a young age, Conrad had to learn to deal with the media and people passing judgement on her life, but she says she’s now learned to deal with it.

“There is always going to be a little bit of… negativity, which just comes with the territory. You realize it doesn’t matter. It’s so simple, but it’s a very hard lesson to learn. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really affect you in any way.”

She’s no longer the party girl we saw on The Hills, hitting up a different club every night either: “It feels done for me. I’m OK with it being done…I destroyed my voice when I moved to L.A. There are polyps all over my vocal chords because I was in a lot of loud places. If you listen to the first episode of Laguna, my voice is completely different.”
