Those heading to a friend or family member's wedding this year may wish to sneak a peek at Perfect Wedding magazine.
The publication has given a number of suggestions on how guests can look their best on the day.
Editor Helen Webster explained that prom-style dresses are en vogue at the moment, with many strapless dresses with sweetheart necklines or full skirt.
"My advice would be to pick a dress in that style with a plain fabric - maybe a pale pink, one of the nude tones which are quite big on the high street at the moment - use that to accessorise and wear to different weddings," she suggested.
Ms Webster added that guests should not be afraid of turning up in a little black dress and accessorising with coloured details to help them "look more fresh and summery".
Meanwhile, Direct Line recently conducted a survey, which found that the average wedding guest spends £215 preparing for the occasion.
This includes transport, accommodation, childcare, drinks and their outfit.
