Comedy actress Miranda Hart has been discussing her popular sitcom with The Lady magazine, giving subscription holders an insight into her thoughts in the show.
Called simply Miranda, the programme sees Hart's self-titled character desperately trying to snare the "gorgeous love interest" while dealing with her "pushy mother" and "irritating gaggle of friends".
The protagonist blows her inheritance on buying a joke shop and all manner of comic occurrences ensue.
The Lady describes the show as "old-fashioned fun" that does not try to be cool or edgy - a choice Hart explained was conscious.
"I made a very deliberate decision to do an old-fashioned sitcom," she told the magazine.
"It's the kind of comedy I grew up with I'd still choose a Morecambe and Wise DVD over contemporary comedy. I just prefer that brash, silly, you-know-what you're-getting comedy."
Hart studied at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London's Wandsworth area.
