If you were in London over the weekend then you may have popped over to Trafalgar Square – along with thousands of other people – to check out the Get London Reading festival (not to be confused with August’s Reading Festival which is music!).
The likes of Hugh Grant, Lily Cole, Warwick Davis and Rupert Everett read excerpts of some of their favourite books to the crowds, with the aim to encourage children to read.
Lily Cole read from Winnie the Pooh, but admitted she was tempted to read Harry Potter as it had had such a profound effect on her childhood.
At one point, as a section of The War Horse play was read to the crowd, Joey the horse from the stage production was walked through the square, much to many children's delight.
Obviously, at iSUBSCRiBE we’re big fans of reading so think the festival was a great idea for getting kids excited about books.
