Gardeners’ World survey shows visiting boom

According to Gardeners' World survey, 50% of the population have visited open garden in past 12 months - despite bad weather!

If you have a BBC Gardeners’ World magazine subscription then you’ll obviously enjoy spending time in your garden, but a new survey commission by the magazine shows that you are definitely not alone!

According to the survey, which was commissioned to celebrate the launch of Gardeners’ World magazine’s 2-for-1 Entry Gardens to Visit Card & Guide (which is in the current issue!), 50% of the UK population have visited an open garden in the past 12 months. It’s especially surprising considering that last year saw the wettest spring since records began and this year’s spring got off to such a frosty start!

Lucy Hall, Gardeners’ World magazine’s editor says: “Gardens are among this country’s brightest national treasures and we lead the world in the quality and diversity of our gardens. Warmer weather should bring a welcome boom in visits – and that’s good news for UK tourism as well as garden owners. We’re pleased to do our bit for cost-conscious garden visitors with our 2-for-1 Entry Gardens to Visit Card & Guide.”
