Five of The Best Tea-based Cocktails

Love Tea? Love cocktail hour? Then these five delicious drinks will make your Friday…

Kentucky Tea – Created by renowned mixologist Martin Bruno at Buenos Aires' finest boutique hotel, the Fierro, this is a glorious drink for a summers day. Start by mixing black tea, lemon and eucalyptus leaves to hot, but not boiling water, leave to infuse and cool. Now prepare a tall glass with ice, and 2 ounces of Kentucky bourbon whiskey, lemon juice, and your tea infusion. Stir and garnish with fresh mint.

Green Tea Mojito – Who can resist a tea-based twist on a classic? Firstly, brew half a cup of your favourite green tea and leave to chill. Now muddle brown sugar with fresh mint and lime juice in a tall glass, before adding ice, 1 ounce of rum and your chilled tea.

Chamomile Tequila Sour – Chamomile may be known for its soporific properties, but this little beauty will keep you dancing all night long! In a saucepan, combine 1 cup water with 1 cup sugar and boil. Take of the heat and add four chamomile teabags, leave to infuse and cool, (any tea flavoured syrup can be made with this technique). Now make your cocktail by shaking 1 3/4 ounces tequila and 1 1/2 ounces chamomile simple syrup with ice in a shaker, and strain into a salt rimmed glass.

Earl Grey Cocktail – Brew a half a cup of Earl Grey and pour into a shaker with 1 ¼ ounces of gin, ½ an ounce of lemon juice, 2 sprigs of lavender (seriously) and a dash of honey. Shake vigorously and strain into a glass for possibly the classiest cocktail you will ever sip.

Tea Tini – Possibly the easiest of them all, the tea tini is superb treat on a balmy evening. Start by brewing the tea of your choice with a little sugar and leave to cool. Now combine 1 3/4 ounces vodka, 1-ounce iced tea and 1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a chilled glass for a drink even james Bond would be proud of.
