Kendall Jenner And Gigi Hadid Get Arty For W

The two stunning supermodels explore their quirky sides to celebrate ten years of W magazine

We’ve seen their sultry side, their silly side and downright sexy side, but it’s fair to say the W magazine’s 10th anniversary shoot showcases a side of Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid like no other!

Joining forces for the Placebo Pets Project, the duo were transformed into 'humanoid pets' in a spread by Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin, with photographs by Jason Kibbler. Camping themed, in one photo Hadid is crouching on a stool in a luminous orange jacket, sporting animal ears, and Jenner looks almost unrecognisable in another as her nose is Photoshopped into an animal-like snout.

Aptly named ‘The Art Issue’, the pair have also made a video of them recreating famous pieces of performance art. In honour of Yves Klein's work, reality star Jenner donned a nude bodysuit and painted herself blue. In another she mimicked Yoko Ono's famous work by having a tulle dress cut off her as she eyeballs the camera, and finally, the dazzling duo wove their hair together to imitate the famous work by Marina Abramovic and Ulay.

Over the last decade, the American fashion magazine has wowed with its glossy high-end fashion shoots, enlisting the greatest photographers of a generation. However, it has also garnered a reputation controversy, like Steven Klein’s portfolio of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt entitled ‘Domestic Bliss’ – published whilst Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston - and Steven Meisel's shoot entitled ‘Asexual Revolution’ which toyed with the concept of gender by blurring the sexuality of its models.

The Art Issue has already caused controversy with Jenner and Hadid appearing to be each missing a knee cap on the cover image. Some are questioning whether this is a deliberate act or a Photoshop gaff, either way, art has never looked so stunning.
