Gandalf asked to officiate Wedding, says No

As if protecting Middle Earth from the nefarious advances of Orcs wasn’t time-consuming enough, it turns out Gandalf is also sought after to officiate social media millionaire’s nuptials…

Sir Ian Mckellen reportedly turned down an offer to officiate at Silicon Valley media mogul Sean Parker’s wedding for $1.5 million dollars, because the groom wanted him to dress up as Gandalf to do the ceremony.

Although Mckellen himself has previous in the wedding officiating business, having taken charge of good friend Patrick Stewart’s wedding in 2013, he turned down Parker’s offer due to the fact he would have had to get his wizarding garb out of the closet.

Parker, co-founder of music streaming site Napster, the first president of Facebook, and portrayed by Justin Timberlake in 2010’s The Social Network, wed singer Alexandra Lena, surrounded by guests dress up as characters from the popular Tolkien film trilogy – including Emma Watson, and Sting.

"I was offered $1.5 million to marry a very famous couple in California, which I would perhaps have considered doing but I had to go dressed as Gandalf," the 77-year-old Mckellen explained. "So I said, 'I am sorry, Gandalf doesn't do weddings'."
