Empire magazine has picked up on the news that Quentin Tarantino will not be directing the forthcoming prequel to Jackie Brown.
It noted that the movie will be based on The Switch - a prequel to the novel on which the original flick was based.
Written by Elmore Leonard, the book tells the story of Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie's meeting in prison and subsequent plans to make a fortune by holding a rich property developer's wife to ransom.
However, things go askew when the husband decides he doesn't want his beloved wife back and the pair (played by Samuel L Jackson and Robert De Niro in Jackie Brown) decide to help her get her own back.
There is currently no studio attached to the film, which is being written and directed by Dan Schechter, with the blessing of Tarantino.
Other works by Tarantino include Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds.
