It’s been three years since the cheeky charmer Robbie Williams wowed us with Swings Both Ways, his second album of smooth swing numbers, but the 42-year-old is back with new song, Heavy Entertainment Show.
The title is said to convey Williams’ vision of himself: ‘light entertainment but on steroids,’ and typically his return was no low-key affair with the song unveiled during Saturday’s X Factor ad break.
In the teaser for the track, the ex-Take That star is in the boxing ring playing as both opponents, perhaps a metaphor for the once-troubled singer’s ongoing insistence that he is his own worst enemy, and is flanked by a bevy of punk-rock babes.
The new album is out in November and see’s the crooner working with long-term collaborator Guy Chambers once more, along with Ed Sheeran, The Killers, and American singer-songwriters Rufus Wainwright and John Grant.
