Port magazine proves printed magazines are still awesome!

Port magazine takes a look at the importance of print media in a digital world, featuring exclusive interviews with the biggest names in US publishing.

The Print vs. Digital debate when it comes to magazines has been going for years and with the closure of so many magazines of late, some believe print will soon become extinct. We disagree, however, and so does Port magazine, which those of you with a subscription will know by now!

The summer issue of the men’s magazine features exclusive interviews with some of the biggest editors in US magazine publishing, including GQ’s Jim Nelson, Vanity Fair’s Graydon Carter, WIRED’s Scott Dadich and Bloomberg Businessweek’s Josh Tyrangiel.

The issue focuses on The Increasing Importance of Print Media and it is clear that all of the editors firmly believe the future is bright for print magazines. Especially as, contrary to popular belief, not only are magazine sales on the rise since last year but there are even more magazines launching now than ever before.

Graydon Carter tells Port: “A magazine is a great invention. You take the best things you can find from around the world, you put together great stories, great photography and you give it to the consumer for $5. They can pass it on to somebody else; they can recycle it. If they lose it they can buy another one. It’s available everywhere, and we’ll send it to their door for less. That’s a pretty good deal. Magazines are a very viable part of our lives and will be for as long as people are alive.”

We couldn’t agree more!
