The best covers of The Beano

The Beano celebrates its 75th anniversary so we check out The Guardian's pick of the best Beano covers.

The Beano is celebrating its 75th year in publication, and Dennis the Menace doesn’t seem to have aged a day!

The magazine’s anniversary is being celebrated all over the country, in plenty of places. In fact, we’ve just stumbled on to The Guardian’s compilation of the 20 Best Beano covers.

The covers range from the characters taking part in a three-legged race in 1943 and Jack Flash taking Beano characters to the moon in 1953 to Dennis the Menace painting a portrait of Gnasher in 1989 and Dennis and Gnasher escaping from Beano robots in 2001.
