Make the world your playground – School may be out for summer but the learning doesn’t have to stop. So look into free museums, farms, exhibitions and events that will expand their minds.
Embrace the wild – Worried about overspending this Summer? Remember that it doesn’t take much to entertain little ones, and with such an abundance of parks and natural spaces in the UK there is no reason not to get out exploring. Failing that, a picnic in the garden is an equally fantastic way to spend quality time with your child.
Get crafting – Turn the tellybox off and indulge in a little arts and crafts. There are so many online tutorials for projects big and small that will keep them engaged for hours.
Cook up a storm – Kids love grown-up stuff, and while they probably won’t be interested in helping you clean the bathroom or fill in your tax return, they will enjoy learning to cook. From simply preparing lunch to baking cookies and treats, there is much joy to be had in the kitchen.
Set them tasks – From treasure hunts, to building challenges and elaborate games, kids love to use their minds, and setting them a task they need to figure out themselves not only builds their self-confidence, it also gives you a chance to sit back and enjoy a cup of tea.
