Period Living magazine highlights Scandinavian glass collecting

A growing number of people from around the UK are turning to collect rare objects such as pieces of Scandinavian glassware, Period Living magazine has claimed.

Scandinavian glass has ballooned in value following the end of the Second World War, which could interest collectors looking for objects in this style, people with a Period Living subscription have been told.

The magazine highlighted the fact that there has been a high level of attention for this type of object and the asymmetric styles that characterised the 1950s have proven especially popular among collectors.

Those looking to build up a number of the pieces should make sure they check the engraved marks in the base, as these can identify the designer and help the buyer decide whether the piece is likely to be extremely valuable.

"With a little experience, the designer and the maker can also be identified from the style of a piece, colour and the way it is made," Period Living magazine added.

Collectors looking for other areas to explore could try costume jewellery, which has grown in price dramatically and become extremely popular.
