Kate Upton is most famous for being Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue cover star and for the infamous “Cat Daddy” dance (don’t pretend you haven’t watched it!). However, she’s now on a very different magazine cover – that of Vogue’s January issue!
The model’s curvy appearance is very different to the slender fashion girls usually featured in the magazine, but editor Alexandra Shulman made a conscious decision to put Upton on the cover.
“It's very rare for a girl; to move from one area of the business to the other, largely due to the fact that fashion models are almost without curves, whereas swimwear girls are celebrated for them,” she says. “When I decided to shoot Kate for our first cover of 2013, it was to kick off the year with a young woman who is not a stereotypical fashion model - although, let's face it, she's hardly a heffalump!”
We’re glad you don’t think so and we agree that it’s nice to see a girl with a bit of meat on her on the cover!
