The new head judge of the Strictly Come Dancing panel will be…*drum roll please*…Shirley Ballas. The 56-year-old so-called ‘Queen of Latin’ might not be a big name in the UK yet, but she’s been plying her trade across the Pond for some time now, appearing as a mentor on Dancing with the Stars – a program on which her son Mark is the current professional champion.
And now the highly-regarded Ballas – who has numerous titles to her name in the ballroom world – will fill veteran judge Len Goodman’s shoes at the head of a panel consisting of Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell.
"I am so excited and over the moon to have been given this wonderful opportunity," Ballas told the BBC. "I can't wait to get in to the ballroom and be part of the incredible and respected judging panel. Strictly is so loved by the British public, I have always been a massive fan. I just can't wait!"
