Well the Olympics is over... and we can't help but feel a little sad, so it's a good job we had such a corker of an Olympics Closing Ceremony and can still get sporting news from our Athletics Weekly magazine subscription!
We've spent 16 days watching various events, hoping that we'll do well - and haven't we done just that! Us Brits can hold our heads high as they finish third in the Games, having given us 29 Gold medals, 17 Silver and 19 Bronze, which brings us to a whopping 65 medals in total. What are we going to do with ourselves now?
The Olympics definitely went out with a bang, after the best of British came together to give amazing performances and to see it was a little eventful would be an understatement.
Twitter was ablaze with tweets about the event, first going crazy when Prince Henry of Wales was introduced (seems a lot of people didn't know that he wasn't born a Harry!). We soon had a scurry of London residents scurrying across the city to a soundtrack of Madness, who were followed by the Pet Shop Boys and every teenage girl's favourite band - One Direction and Ray Davies.
We were also treated to performances from Emeli Sande, Annie Lennox, Stomp, Spellbound, Kaiser Chiefs, George Michael, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, Tinie Tempah, Taio Cruz, Queen, The Who... we could go on! There were even tributes made to musical greats such as John Lennon and Freddie Mercury.
The most talked-about performances had to be from the Spice Girls and Take That. The Spice Girls rode in on black taxis and reminded us all of why we loved them the first time round - Boris was even pulling the moves! Take That also wowed, with fans being wowed by Gary Barlow's performance in light of his recent tragedy.
Reportedly, 26 million people in Britain tuned in to watch the Olympics Closing Ceremony, which just shows how huge the Games have become in this country over the past fortnight. We only hope that our great sporting accomplishments continue and that more people feel inspired to stay fit and healthy!
