NASA predicts 2012 is a great year to see the Northern Lights

If you want to check out the Northern Lights, then 2012 is the year to do it according to a NASA report.

If one of your life ambitions is to see the Northern Lights, then according to NASA, 2012 is the best year for you to see them, so pick up a free Discover The World - Icehotel & The Northern Lights brochure!

The Northern Lights – or Aurora Borealis as they’re also known – are a natural light display in the sky most visible in the North Pole. They are caused by the collision of particles from the sun’s surface with the magnetic field around the Earth’s poles. The Northern Lights are most visible in late autumn/winter and holiday makers make their way to see them, but sightings can never be guaranteed.

But according to a recent NASA report, the Northern Lights will shine brighter than they have for 50 years because the sun’s magnetic field is rotating at a faster pace than the solar poles, and this happens once every 11 years. So if you want to go and see the natural phenomenon for yourself, now’s the time!

Check out our free travel brochure, Discover The World - Icehotel & The Northern Lights. You can start at the Icehotel in Swedish Lapland and end up in the very best spots to watch the aurora.
