She’s the queen of country and yet Dolly Parton’s husband of 50 years has eschewed the limelight entirely until now. The golden couple renewed their vows at a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee and have decided to sell the photos to the highest bidder in order to raise money for her Imagination Library Literacy charity.
Alongside the photographers, the fiercely private Dean has also agreed to his first ever interview where he recalls the first time he met his wife. 'My first thought was I'm gonna marry that girl,' said Carl reacting to their first encounter at the Wishy Washy Laundromat. 'My second thought was, Lord she's good lookin'. And that was the day my life began. I wouldn't trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth.'
And it’s not just her marriage that’s still going strong; Parton, 70, recently kicked off her Pure & Simple Tour, her largest North American tour in more than 25 years.
"If I had it to do all over, I'd do it all over again, and we did. I'm dragging him kicking and screaming into the next 50 years,” she said.
