Ant McPartlin is said to be determined to leave rehab in a month and be ready to host I’m A Celebrity... with Dec Donnelly later this year, friends have said.
The famously upbeat 41-year-old shocked everyone in June when he entered rehab for alcohol and subscription drug abuse after spiralling into depression following knee surgery. Determined to face down his demons alone, Ant is said to have had no visitors during his stay and is looking forward to a reunion with wife Lisa Armstrong, 36, and long-term presenting partner Dec, 41.
A source close to Ant told the Sunday Mirror: 'He is doing really well. It has been a tough few weeks but he is coming through it and is now over the worst of it. Ant has been very brave and is totally committed to his recovery."
ITV bosses have insisted Ant take as much time as he needs to recover, even considering postponing the famous jungle show for a year or drafting in alternate hosts, but are now confident the beloved pair will return in time for the new series.
