News of the Day – As those of you with a New Statesman magazine subscription will know, the US Election has been big news over the past few weeks, with main contenders current president Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney travelling across the country in order to win votes.
Both parties seem confident that they will win but according to polls the pair are neck-and-neck at the moment. The candidates are doing all they can today to secure the last minute votes they need to ensure their win by speaking in states that they believe they can still influence. Obama is due to appear in Wisconsin, Iowa and Ohio, whilst Romney will be visiting Florida, Virginia, New Hampshire and Ohio.
It’s the last day that they are able to campaign before the voting closes, so everything hangs on the last few states. We’ll just have to wait until Tuesday to see how it all ends...
