If you have a TIME magazine subscription you’ll know that it is the best magazine for all current affairs – which covers everything from politics, the economy, technology or in this week’s case, football. Gracing the cover of this week’s issue is world-famous Italian footballer Mario Balotelli.
As happens with many footballers, Balotelli’s personal life is often played out in the press. In recent months Balotelli has on/off dated model Raffaella Fico, who is currently pregnant. The pair now seem to be “on” but Balotelli initially wanted a DNA test when she announced her pregnancy...
Balotelli’s antics on the pitch create as many headlines as off though – with a well-documented temper the footballer often gets into trouble for arguments with referees as well as other players. When it comes to kicking a ball into a net though, there’s no room for argument - he’s gifted.
TIME magazine look into the player’s antics, his views on racism and his relationship with Man City manager Roberto Mancini, whom Balotelli describes as a “father figure”.
Speaking about the footballer, Mancini says: “Every day I say to Mario I’ve finished my patience, every day. I’ve known Mario for six or seven years, and he played the first time in the first team with me. And for this I know very well him, and I can say that his talent is incredible.”
