Empire Mag Gets ‘taken over’ by Steven Spielberg

The acclaimed Director acts as guest Editor for one month only, bringing an issue packed with exclusive content and five limited edition covers.

Empire magazine were delighted to receive the editing talents of Steven Spielberg for the latest issue of the best-selling film magazine, as the legendary filmmaker took the reigns for one month only.

Five very special covers have been released with the issue, depicting five of his most famous movies; Jaws, Raider Of The Lost Ark, E.T The Extra Terrestrial and Saving Private Ryan and well as one featuring the new virtual reality blockbuster, Ready Player One, which hits cinemas on 29 March.

This builds on a long and established relationship between Empire and the legendary film director which has spanned over three decades, as Terri White, editor-in-chief of Empire, commented: “Sometimes editing Empire is dead hard. And sometimes you get a phone call saying that yes, Steven Spielberg would like to take over the magazine for one issue and it’s the greatest job in the world. We were thrilled to collaborate with Steven Spielberg, the man who changed cinema forever, on this issue.

“Not only was it a chance to give the inside story on his latest movie, Ready Player One, but hear from some of the greatest filmmakers and actors he’s worked with over his career for their memories of the man himself. If you can read this issue without shedding a tear, you’re a stronger woman than me.”

Inside the issue, which is out today, there’s an exclusive interview and photo shoot with Spielberg himself, plus exclusive interviews and essays from notable directors and actors including Martin Scorsese, JJ Abrams, Tom Hanks, Christopher Nolan, Josh Brolin, Edgar Wright, JA Bayona, Colin Trevorrow, Rian Johnson, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill.
