Title: Esquire

Esquire has compiled a list of five new non-fiction books that will keep subscribers busy when they have finished reading the magazine.

The publication explained that while laptops, Xboxes and other entertainment devices are great, reading a book on a train can be much more practical.

Readers should look out for Dave Eggers' Zeitoun, which is based on the real-life story of New Orleans businessman Abdulrahman Zeitoun.

The pages explain how the US resident stayed on in his home city after it was battered by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, helping others and exploring the city in a canoe.

Meanwhile, the Uses and Abuses of History by Margaret MacMillan, which is released next month, looks at the way in which history can be manipulated to suit different arguments.

She looks at the Iraq war, the 1919 Paris peace conference and Nixon's exploits in China in an attempt to illustrate how man has hijacked history to suit his own means.

Other books on the list include Charlie Brookers' The Hell of it All, Gregory Zuckerman's The Greatest Trade Ever - How John Paulson Bet Against the Markets and Made $20bn and How the English Language became the World's Language by Robert McCrum.

Other top fives from the magazine include The Top Five Barbers for a Shave and The Top Five Fish and Chip Bars.
