Why one outdoors enthusiast chose to walk the 6,000-mile British coastline

If you've got a Country Walking magazine subscription you can find out what inspired one outdoors enthusiast to walk around the whole British coastline.

Anyone with a Country Walking magazine subscription can find out why one woman chose to walk around the entire British coastline.

Amy Leigh told Country Walking magazine she decided she wanted to find the biggest challenge possible to complete, when she stumbled across Turn Right at Land's End, which inspired her quest.

The walker told the magazine: "I did the Great North Run and the Three Peaks Challenge for charity, and I wondered what I could do from there.

"It was a mad conversation one night over a drink, and we wondered if it was possible."

Ms Leigh completed the feat in 240 days, according to Country Walking magazine.

She did the trek in memory of her brother, who died of kidney failure five years ago.

As a result, she opted to donate the money she raised to Kidney Research UK, which funds live-saving research into kidney disease and helps increase awareness of the plight of sufferers.

When Country Walking magazine asked Amy what she'd be doing next, she said she's currently writing a book about her experience. She added: "I've jokingly said I would walk round the world … but that's a huge undertaking!"
