Kate Upton talks to Vogue about Marilyn Monroe comparisons

Bikini model turned actress Kate Upton talks to Vogue about her biggest fight and being compared to an icon.

Not only is Kate Upton one of the world’s most beautiful young women – with a bikini body to die for – but it seems like she’s not a bad actress either, as proven in her latest film The Other Woman. Would you believe she’s only 21?

The model-turned-actress is the cover star of Vogue’s June issue, which those of you with a subscription should receive any day now. She talks about her rise to fame and how she got there.

Anyone who wants to go into an industry in the public eye gets a fair few warnings – particularly a curvy model who isn’t stick thin – but Upton found that her main difficulties weren’t with whom she first thought. “It’s weird that in the press they’ll be like, your biggest fight was with the industry and the designers, and I’m like, no, my biggest fight was with my agents, trying to get them to sign me into the castings. I thought, how I’m going to come out of this will be an example for girls,” she says.

The press often compare her to Marilyn Monroe, and although she’s flattered, she assures the magazine that she’s different in some ways. “I always thought Marilyn was so beautiful and iconic, it was amazing to even be mentioned in the same sentence as her,” she tells Vogue. “But I feel like nowadays it’s easy to be genuine and show your personality, whereas I don’t think Marilyn had that opportunity. And clearly she had a dark side, and I don’t have that.”
