Gwyneth Paltrow talks parenting with Marie Claire

Gwyneth Paltrow speaks to Marie Claire USA about a third child and why parenting gets more difficult.

The cover star of this month’s Marie Claire is Gwyneth Paltrow – who we like to consider as an honorary Brit seeing as she spends so much time over here with hubby Chris Martin and their two children.

Speaking to the magazine she confesses that she’s not totally opposed to having a third child, though she does worry post-natal depression might sneak up on her again.

“I would love to, but I don’t know if I could start changing nappies again,” she says. “Also, when my son was born I had terrible depression. It was strange because with my eldest [Apple] it didn’t happen, I was super-happy. But with Moses it took me a year to get out of the hole.”

Many parents think that the terrible twos can be the most difficult, but Gwyneth doesn’t agree.

“Last night, I was talking about that with my husband: it gets more complicated. The problems are getting more serious and I notice that they need me more now than even when they were very little. My daughter, for example, who is super-intelligent, asks me [tough] questions! I feel I have to constantly be by her side.”
