International Man Booker Prize shortlist announced

The shortlist of ten writers for the International Man Booker Prize has been announced.

It’s the day that many authors around the world have been waiting for... The shortlist for the International Man Booker Prize! If you have a London Review of Books magazine subscription, then we’re sure you’ve probably read all of the books named. If not, we suggest you buy them all sharpish!

The awards for Contemporary Fiction are very prestigious so to even be in the top 10 is a huge honour. Those who are lucky enough to be included this year are U R Ananthamurthy (India), Aharon Appelfeld (Israel), Lydia Davis (USA), Intizar Husain (Pakistan),Yan Lianke (China), Marie NDiaye (France), Josip Novakovich(Canada), Marilynne Robinson (USA), Vladimir Sorokin (Russia) and Peter Stamm (Switzerland). That's nine different countries, so a diverse list.

The winner will be chosen by five judges this year and the announcement will be made at the Victoria and Albert Museum on 22nd May. We wish all authors the best of luck...
