James Cameron goes deep sea diving in National Geographic

James Cameron invites National Geographic along to watch him explore the ocean in his own submarine.

Who better to have pictured on the cover of National Geographic (supposedly) thousands of metres under sea in a diving suit than James Cameron? After all, that’s exactly where he sent Leo. We jest! We know that’s not real...

James Cameron is actually doing a real-life deep sea dive, though. It’s been his dream for as long as he can remember, so he’s finally plucking up the courage to do it – and he’s invited National Geographic along to document it for him.

He’s even gone so far as to have a pretty impressive submarine made for him. “I sit inside there,” Cameron says, gesturing toward the sub’s pilot capsule. “We close the hatch. And then go pshewww all the way to the bottom. Straight down.”

Thanks for clearing that up for us James! Read the full feature in this month’s issue of National Geographic!
