Diehard fan signs on at Celtic for another year

An 86-year-old Celtic supporter has committed to watching the Hoops for another year, meaning he has now actively supported the team for eight decades.

Celtic View readers who think they are the club's biggest fan may change their mind after hearing the story of 86-year-old Jack Marshall.

The Clarkston pensioner has bought a season ticket for the coming season, meaning he will have been following the club through eight decades.

Diehard fan Jack has been sitting in the main stand since the end of World War II and said he will support the club he has followed since 1933 to his dying day.

"I've never wanted to change my seat either, this is a great place to sit for games," he told CelticFC.net.

Mr Marshall admitted that while he thinks new manager Neil Lennon and coach Alan Thompson were great players in their day, he has a special kind of respect for assistant boss Johan Mjallby.

The big Swede was "strong as a horse but never got into trouble", meaning he was a respected defender in Scotland, the superfan said.

Celtic have already snapped up Charlie Mulgrew and South Korea international right back Cha Du-Ri this summer.
