It’s Flashback Friday over at Wonderland magazine and today they’re looking back to their interview with actor Ben Whishaw back in Nov/Dec 2009.
He’s become considerably more successful since then, having appeared in acclaimed BBC drama The Hour opposite Romola Garai.
Whishaw had appeared in three films opposite Daniel Craig, so Wonderland asked if he was a friend... “Oh God, I was so young. I don’t know Daniel Craig at all. It’s purely coincidence. I don’t think he would even remember me. We barely exchanged a conversation, particularly on the first film. I think I was about 17 and really, really timid, really shy. I don’t think I spoke to him. I was too frightened…” Well, he IS James Bond.
Speaking about why he became an actor, he says: “I’ve always dressed up and created little characters and little stories and performances. And I’ve just carried on doing that, really. I thought I’d go to art school and I started an art course but then I gave it up after a couple of weeks and went to drama school instead. It was quite clear to me.”
Sadly, he didn’t make any predictions that have spookily come true, but it’s still funny to look back, isn’t it!
