Why Leo wasn’t Carey Mulligan’s pin-up…

Carey Mulligan speaks in the Harper's Bazaar June issue about who she picked over Leonardo DiCaprio as a teen.

Whilst millions of teenagers pinned posters of Leonardo DiCaprio on our walls after the success of Romeo + Juliet and Titanic back in the ‘90s, Carey Mulligan confesses that she wasn’t one of them.

The actress stars in The Great Gatsby opposite Leo and when speaking to Harper’s Bazaar in the June issue of the magazine (which those of you with a subscription should have by now!) she confesses that although she admires the actor, he wasn’t her crush.

"Well, he [Leonardo Dicaprio] wasn’t my pin-up, but he was for a lot of my girlfriends. Michael Schumacher [was my pin-up],” she explains. "I used to watch Formula 1 with my dad when I was little. When I did the audition [for the role of Daisy in The Great Gatsby] with Leo in New York I walked away grinning. Just the idea that if I never got any further, I had just spent an hour and a half acting with Leonardo Dicaprio.”

The actress features on the cover of this month’s issue and in a gorgeous spring shoot that shows off the actress’ natural beauty.

Harper's Bazaar also celebrate their continued collaboration with the V&A museum in the issue.
