Lorde talks to Rolling Stone about how life has changed

Lorde catches up with Rolling Stone magazine to talk about what the success of Royals will mean for her next record.

Lorde seems to be the latest songstress to have wowed the world with her incredible lyrics and voice – and she’s landed herself on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Being so young and shooting to fame so quickly, it must be a nerve-wracking experience. "I get paralyzingly nervous a lot of times, so I tried bravado," Lorde explains, quoting Kanye West's "Dark Fantasy" ("Me found bravery in my bravado"). "The way I dress and carry myself, a lot of people find it intimidating. I think my whole career can be boiled down to the one word I always say in meetings: strength."

She confesses that she’s unsure what the content of her next album will be, as her life has changed so much. “It’s a really weird thing to write a song like ‘Royals,’ or a record like the record I wrote, and then go through something like this, which changes your entire world and way of living and changes what you do every day. And then you find yourself writing and being in a completely new stratosphere in terms of what you’re talking about and how you approach certain subjects. So it has been weird. Do I really want to write a record which is like, ‘I’m in my Jacuzzi and I have so much money, and I’m sad?’ It’ll be interesting to see how something like this manifests itself creatively for me.”
