Isle of Wight festival gets off to a very wet start!

Flooded fields and muddy car parks - it's a very soggy start to the Isle of Wight festival!

As music fans with a Clash magazine subscription will already know, festival season is upon us! Radio 1's Hackney Weekend gets under way tomorrow and the Isle of Wight festival kicks off today - though not without its difficulties.

The torrential downpours of the past couple of days have caused the fields to flood and festival-goers are struggling to actually get to the campsites as cars can't move through the mud in the car park. Unfortunately some people have had to turn back and head home after sitting in hours of grid lock to get to the island, but festival promoter John Giddings has promised they will get a full refund, adding "I'm really sorry and appreciate the support that people have given us. I'm sorry they have had to suffer these conditions." It's typical British festival weather, we suppose! Despite the rain, no doubt those at the festival will have an awesome time watching acts such as Biffy Clyro, Example, The Vaccines, Lana Del Ray and Jessie J - to name just a few.

Call us optimistic but we're hoping that the weather will improve now that we're officially in summer and there's a whole season on music festivals ahead of us - V, Download, Reading and Leeds... the list is endless! Fingers crossed for sunshine.
