Charity launches Christmas drink-drive awareness campaign

If you've got a Marketing magazine subscription, charity Campaign Against Drink Driving has launched a new awareness drive.

Anyone interested in advertising who has a Marketing magazine subscription can read about a charity's new initiative over the festive period.

Campaign Against Drink Driving (CADD) has launched an ad drive to reduce the number of motorists who head out on the roads after consuming alcohol.

The print ads, which have been created by JWT London, depict road traffic accident scenes using bottles of alcohol. They all contain the strapline: "What's the price of a bottle?", reports Marketing magazine.

Carole Whittingham, chair of CADD, said: "Every year, lives are ruined because of drink-driving. We hope that the dramatic nature of these images will make drivers think twice before drink-driving over the festive period and, indeed, all year round."

The campaign has come after the government decided to cut the charity's budget for advertising against drink-driving from £3.4 million to £550,000 this year.

According to CADD, around 880 deaths, 1,760 serious injuries and 11,850 minor injuries are caused by motorists driving under the influence of drugs or drink in Britain.
