Tips for finishing a race strongly

Runner's World shares some secrets to help an athlete finish a race feeling strong.

Long-distance athletes who feel that making some improvements to the final stages of their races could be beneficial have been given some advice in the latest issue of Runner's World magazine.

In general, runners may find that they have more energy when finishing a run if they constantly take on fluids at regular intervals and use hills to their advantage.

Alongside its own secrets to help runners feel stronger at the finish, advice is offered to both regular athletes and beginners to help enhance their performance.

New runners are told of some easy ways to improve their form and technique, while six-week training plans are provided to prepare a person that has signed up to run five kilometres or further.

For the more regular runners there are four suggested foods that could prove helpful in fighting an illness and some tips on how to remain cool on a race day.

Furthermore, people will have the chance to read some inspiring stories as a 20-page guide is featured which focuses on the London Marathon.

Princess Beatrice was one of those to complete the gruelling 26.2 miles and became the first royal to have done so.
