What a weekend of mixed emotions for us English towards the Irish this weekend as those of you with a Rugby World magazine subscription will know.
On one hand it’s St. Patrick’s Day – the day we celebrate all things Irish and have a few pints of Guinness in the process - but on the other hand it’s the 6 Nations Rugby final and it’s England vs. Ireland. Dilemma!
Somehow we think it will only add to the atmosphere in pubs across the country tomorrow afternoon as they’re sure to be filled with people watching the big game.
It all hangs in the balance – England could end up winning if they play a blinder against Ireland, so long as Wales lose their match against France earlier in the day by over 2 points, or Wales could take the glory, which would go against our pneumonic to remember the compass points – Never Ever Support Wales – taught to us by a Welsh person. Scotland are hoping not to get the Wooden Spoon this year by winning their match against Italy in Rome. Neither team particularly want the privilege, as Italy have come last for the past 4 years with Scotland just above them.
We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out who will come where, but we do know it will be a fun Saturday!
