If you have seen Bridesmaids, then we’re sure you’ll remember Rebel Wilson, who played Kristen Wiig’s housemate and Matt Lucas’ sister.
The Aussie actress is about to star in Pitch Perfect, a “grown-up Glee” type comedy and has just been named Details magazine’s Next Big Thing in their Hollywood Mavericks issue. They describe her as a “new breed of comedy star”.
Speaking about making it in the USA, the actress tells the magazine: “I’ve always had a very American sense of humor—Judd Apatow movies, improvisational style. I thought I could do a female version of that. America’s a bigger market and more competitive, but I had the confidence of having written and/or starred in, like, 13 different shows in Australia.”
Wilson now actually lives with co-star Matt Lucas, and is glad to have him around at times. “He comes in handy,” she says. “When I wanted to pull this stunt at the VMAs wearing a bikini with pubic hair sticking out, I tried the idea out on him first.”
