It must be every actress’ dream to play a Bond girl and in Skyfall two women get that honour – French actress Bérénice Marlohe and British star Naomie Harris.
If you have an InStyle magazine subscription you’ll have just received the November issue which features Naomie Harris on the cover, clad in a leather dress that is very apt for a Bond girl.
Although it may be every girl’s dream, Harris didn’t think she was the right person to play a Bond girl – after all, some of the world’s most beautiful women such as Halle Berry, Eva Green and Ursula Andress have previously been cast.
“When they asked me to audition, I thought, ‘Me, as a Bond Girl?’ I just didn’t see it,” she says. However, after reading the part Harris felt that field agent Eve was a role she could see herself in.
“She’s very intelligent and highly ambitious – her aim is to be as capable as James Bond. It’s much more evolved, much more reflective of how women are now – multifaceted, multidimensional and equal to men.”
In fact, in the last few James Bond films there have been a lot of strong females, banishing the assumptions that all Bond girls are there at the male characters’ disposal.
We can’t wait to see Harris, Craig and co in Skyfall, which is released on 26th October.
