Tone up with ballet, says OK! magazine

If you've got an OK! magazine subscription, you can find out how to tone up with ballet.

Ballet is the latest exercise craze and if you've got an OK! magazine subscription, you can find out why you might want to get involved.

The publication suggests a ballet-style workout can help you tone up and become more flexible.

Award-winning film Black Swan, featuring this year's best actress Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, is said to have sparked the dance trend.

"Ballet is an excellent way to develop poise, fitness and coordination," expert Mary Helen Bowers told OK! magazine.

She said your core muscles are strengthened because it requires lots of work on your posture and poise.

Also, if you do it regularly, it's a good cardiovascular workout as well, she told OK! magazine.

There are plenty of ballet-inspired exercise classes up and down the country now, so you don't even need to practise it directly to reap the benefits.

"By improving your posture and alignment you appear slimmer instantly," Vicki Anstey, founder of Barreworks, told OK! magazine.

She said after working out regularly using ballet-inspired moves you're likely to weigh the same, but you'll "lose the inches", which is great news!
