PJ Harvey is the favourite to win tonight’s Mercury Music Prize

While the nominees are hoping to hear their name, the favourite to win the Mercury Music Prize is PJ Harvey.

As the nominees wait with bated breath for tonight’s announcement , the favourite to win this year’s Mercury Music Prize is PJ Harvey, according to both NME magazine and the bookies at William Hill.

Harvey’s album “Let England Shake” has an odds of 6/4 to win, followed by James Blake at 5/1 and Adele’s “21” at third with 6/1 odds. Though we think it’s a pretty tough call!

The nominees are: Adele - '21' Anna Calvi - 'Anna Calvi' Katy B - 'On A Mission' James Blake - 'James Blake' Elbow - 'Build A Rocket Boys!' Metronomy - 'The English Riviera' PJ Harvey - 'Let England Shake' Tinie Tempah - 'Disc-Overy' Gwilym Simcock - 'Good Days At Schloss Elmau' Everything Everything - 'Man Alive' Ghostpoet - 'Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam' King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - 'Diamond Mine'

This year is the first that all nominees will be performing at the ceremony, which is being held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.

We always rely on our weekly NME magazine subscription for all the latest music news. NME magazine are always the first to introduce us to the hottest new musicians – like last year’s winners The xx amongst others.

Our NME magazine subscription has also kept us up-to-date with all the latest from this summer’s music festivals – sadly we couldn’t afford to go to all of them! Though it hasn’t meant we don’t still have all of the backstage gossip from the Reading & Leeds festival and we expect the same treatment with this weekend’s Bestival.
