Michael Pachter thinks consumers will prefer Xbox One

Analyst Michael Pachter thinks Xbox One may win over those who currently prefer the PS4.

We’ve already told you about the PS4/Xbox One war that is going on before either of the consoles have even gone on sale.

Most feedback from consumers seems that the PS4 is the one to watch as it is considerably cheaper than the Xbox One. However, T3 magazine have reported that analyst Michael Pachter thinks that after realising it’s superiority to the Sony rival, consumers will be wanting to go with Microsoft.

"Microsoft intends to offer a more robust hardware bundle than Sony will offer, and Microsoft is convinced that consumers will ultimately appreciate the value proposition presented by Kinect," Pachter told investors.

"Microsoft has not done a particularly good job of communicating the value proposition to consumers, but today's announcement will remove an impediment to the company's ability to get its message across.

"We are confident that with six months of focused messaging, Microsoft can fully level the playing field with Sony, and we expect the Xbox One to sell as many units as the PS4.”

Failing that, he thinks they won’t be adverse to dropping prices to boost sales. "If we are wrong, we think that Microsoft is prepared to lower price next year,” he said.
