Heat magazine subscription holders reading the latest issue will get to see one celebrity as they have never seen him before.

X-Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary has tried his hand at cross-dressing - but only to dress up as EastEnders character Dot Cotton.

The celebrity posed for the publication in a wig, blouse, makeup and skirt combination to promote the upcoming National TV Awards which he is hosting.

He told the magazine that he is a big fan of the London-based soap and watches it whenever he can.

"What I love about it is that they always forget how awful people are, so Janine killed Barry and now they're giving her another chance," he told Heat.

O'Leary added that the X-Factor team were disappointed to be overlooked at last year's awards and are hopeful that this year will see them pick up a gong.

The latest series of the show was won by Geordie Joe McElderry, who beat Stacey Solomon and Olly Murs to first place.
