No Lautner X-Men appearance

Taylor Lautner will not play a role in X-Men: First Class, despite the rumours.

OK! magazine has lamented news that may interest fans of the Twilight and X-Men franchises.

It has been confirmed that Taylor Lautner, who plays hunky vampire Jacob in the former series, will not be appearing in X-Men: First Class, much to the publication's disappointment.

According to producer Bryan Singer, the star was too busy to commit to the role as he is filming the final Twilight flick, as well as another movie called Abduction.

"We talked about it a lot, he is a friend, and I really wanted to make it work. It just doesn't look like it's possible to do it," he told Blastr.

The new X-Men starts filming in London in August and tells the back story to the original trilogy.

It is set to star Nicholas Hoult and Kevin Bacon, as well as Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, who will play the young versions of Magneto and Charles Xavier respectively.

The characters were portrayed by Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in the other X-Men movies.
