NME subscription holders may have been surprised to see the Jonas Brothers handed one of the magazine's gongs at the recent Shockwaves NME Awards in London.

However, readers need not fret that the publication has lost its taste - the US band scooped the dubious honours of Worst Band and Worst Album for Lines, Vines And Trying Times.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday (February 24th) night and saw the brothers beat the likes of JLS, Paramore Oasis and Green Day to the title of worst band.

Green Day were also up for Worst Album with 21st Century Breakdown, as were Lady Gaga, U2 and Arctic Monkeys.

The magazine's readers had been less than impressed by The Fame, No Line On The Horizon and Humbug, but these albums failed to sink to the same depth as the Jonas Brothers' record and avoided the embarrassment of being given the award.

Part of the Disney franchise, the Jonas Brothers consists of Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas.
