The latest issue of NME magazine features an interview with Vampire Weekend, a band the publication describes as one which has gone "from college nerds to champions of the world".

To celebrate the launch of their new album Contra, Vampire Weekend last month played a non-ticketed gig in London.

Fans were given the chance to simply turn up to the free event at Somerset House, where the band played above the ice rink.

The first 50 to arrive were able to skate for free, as well as hear some of the tracks from the new album.

Later, Vampire Weekend played an intimate sold-out gig at Kingston's New Slang club night.

Meanwhile, the magazine has spoken to US rockers Kings Of Leon about their new record label and chatted to Marina And The Diamonds about reincarnation, feminism and Dolly Parton.

It has also reviewed The Couteeners' new album and reported on the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour's trip to Glasgow.
